Banjo Music

I got a banjo in early 2020 to try to keep myself from falling too hard into depression as we all entered quarantine. I like to think it helped! Either way, two years later now I've learned a few songs and even written some of my own, which I'll share recordings of and tablature[1] for here.

We All Lift Together

Tablature coming soon.

Recording coming soon.

This is the first song I ever arranged for banjo! An ex really likes Warframe so I learned this song to surprise him with it. This song is from the video game Warframe, and is sung when the player first goes to Fortuna on Venus. It's pretty unusual in my repertoire because it's played two-finger style, with the thumb doing most of the work and the index finger playing a drone on the first string. Most other music I know I play clawhammer style with the thumb playing a drone on the fifth string.

The Hand You Reach Out Is Empty As Mine Is, by Pat the Bunny

handwritten tablature

Recording coming soon.

This song is the second one I can think of that I learned which isn't originally written for banjo. This is just the normal chord loop used in the verses and chorus. The same chords are used in the bridge but it's fancier and I haven't put the time in yet to figure something out for that.

Feetnotes

[1] Tablature is a form of sheet music for banjo, guitar, and other stringed instruments. Instead of representing the pitch of each note to be played, it tells the reader what string and fret to play each note on.
